Chinese Protest Against Lockdown: In order to stop the intensified protest against Xi Jinping’s Zero Covid Policy in China, various kinds of atrocities including firing and beating are being done by the government there. Protests were witnessed in several major cities including Beijing, Shanghai and Wuhan for the second night in a row. This is the reason that for the last two-three days people have started coming out on the road in different provinces of China. Sunday night was also similar.

Citizens take part in an anti-lockdown rally in Beijing, the capital of China. Raised his voice against the harsh Kovid-19 restrictions of the Chinese government in the rally. According to AFP reports, within a few hours hundreds of people had gathered on the banks of the Liangma River, many of them holding blank white papers. It is considered a symbolic protest against censorship. Others lit candles on a small makeshift altar, where bouquets of flowers were also placed. Demonstrators chanted at the rally, “We are all Xinjiang people! Go ahead, Chinese people! Long live the people!” “I am here for my future… You have to fight for your future yourself. I am not afraid, because we are not doing anything wrong, we are not breaking any law,” a woman named Tian told AFP. Everyone is working hard for a better tomorrow.”

People also raised slogans on the streets of Beijing in protest against China’s zero-covid policy. People were heard saying, “We need food, not nucleic acid testing!” At the same time, some people also raised slogans while remembering the tragedies related to the country’s strict anti-Covid rules. “Don’t forget the people who died in the Guizhou bus accident… don’t forget freedom,” said one, referring to an accident in September.

Protests flare up in Shanghai

In Shanghai too, thousands of people protested against the strict Covid measures. The protesters also asked President Xi Jinping to step down. Frank Tsai, an observer of the Shanghai protest, told the BBC he was surprised at how large the protest had become. “I haven’t seen a protest of this scale in Shanghai in 15 years,” he said.
